Lead Data Scientist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Lead Data Scientist to join our growing team. This role will drive the development of data science solutions that solve critical business problems, unlock insights, and shape strategic decision-making. You will lead a team of data scientists and analysts, oversee end-to-end model development, and work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing data science team.
    • Define and implement the data science strategy in alignment with business objectives.
    • Drive innovation in predictive analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Project Execution
    • Own and manage the lifecycle of data science projects from ideation to production.
    • Develop robust statistical and machine learning models for business use cases.
    • Ensure model performance, interpretability, scalability, and compliance.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Partner with product, engineering, operations, and executive teams to identify and prioritize impactful use cases.
    • Translate complex data science concepts into actionable business insights.
    • Communicate findings, methodology, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering.
    • Evaluate data sources and ensure data quality and integrity.
    • Stay up to date with the latest trends in data science and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role.
  • Proven experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and common data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop), and model deployment tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, preferably in fast-paced or startup settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in [industry, e.g., healthcare, fintech, e-commerce].
  • Familiarity with data governance, model monitoring, and MLOps practices.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering business impact through data-driven initiatives.
